New Everton signing Vitaliy Mykolenko has shown his humble side, admitting he is "modest" in his first club video interview.

The Ukrainian spoke to Everton media in a video posted to the club's official YouTube channel on Saturday.

Mykolenko spoke humbly of how he hopes to settle in at Goodison Park and wants to try his hardest to win every game for his new club.

The 22-year-old says he hopes to start settling in during his first few days and he sees manager Benítez helping him do so.

In the official video and translated from his native language, Mykolenko said: "I am 22 and will be trying to justify my being brought to the club. I hope it will start happening for me immediately from the first few days and this is where the manager will help me to settle in and it will give me confidence to progress and keep improving."

He went on to play down the hype surrounding him, saying: "I hope that I will be a useful acquisition for the club. I am a modest person and won't be predicting that I will come here and achieve the impossible. I am a modest man who wants to come and try to win every game for the club."

Mykolenko also highlighted his excitement at playing in the Premier League, adding: "I have always dreamt of playing in the Premier League... it is where football was born and I think that it will suit my game very well but for this I need to adapt but I hope it won't take me too long."

Humble nature

Mykolenko's unassuming and modest nature is just one factor set to make him a success at Everton under Benítez.

His combination of experience, playing against top-level Champions League clubs such as Barcelona and Bayern Munich, and youth will go a long way towards a favourable outcome for the club.

Everton

Mykolenko's attributes as a person, teamed with his versatility and proficiency as a player will make him a rather valuable asset as Everton look to move further and further from relegation and keep their fingers crossed for a successful 2022.

Leaving his home country and boyhood club will surely be a major challenge as it is for anybody experiencing such a drastic change in circumstances. The youngster certainly won't be without anxiety but here's to hoping his excitement and passion overrides it.

However, his manner in the YouTube interview makes him out to be a smart, calm and collected individual with a great head on his shoulders who seems certain to mark the end of what has become a difficult situation with Lucas Digne.
