Everton defender Roman Dixon looks set for a January move away from Finch Farm

Everton are reeling from a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, and bouncing back is going to be tough for David Moyes' side as they welcome table-topping Arsenal to Goodison Park this weekend.

With the January transfer window now firmly on the horizon, the Toffees seem to be beginning to ramp up their plans for the winter sales.

Everton defender Roman Dixon could join League One promotion-chasers

However, with incomings there are also outgoings, and one player who could be leaving the Hill Dickinson Stadium in January is Dixon.

As per a report from the Liverpool Echo, the 20-year-old full-back could be in line for a January loan move to League One promotion-chasing Stockport County.

The England youth international made his Premier League debut for Everton away against Tottenham in August of last year, before going on to make a further two appearances in the Carabao Cup last season.

However, injury problems blocked a loan move to Stockport in this summer's transfer window, but it's understood that the Hatters are keeping a close eye on his fitness, and indeed availability, ahead of the winter window commencing.

Stockport County could be ideal landing spot for Everton to send Roman Dixon

When sending talented youngsters out on loan, clubs such as Everton have numerous things to consider in order to ensure they're giving each player the best chance to succeed and develop.

Given Stockport's geographical proximity to Merseyside, Everton scouts and coaches would be able to monitor Dixon's progress with considerably more ease than if he was to be sent further afield, which could be a major benefit for intel and feedback gathering.

Dave Challinor's County side are also firmly in the League One promotion mix this season, and so getting some valuable experience in an environment such as a dressing room pushing for promotion could be an invaluable learning tool for the young defender.

Stockport is also where fellow Everton youngster Tyler Onyango is out on loan at too, and so the third-tier side could be an ideal place to send Dixon in that regard too.
