Simon Jordan patronises Everton fans with out-of-touch review of transfer window debacle

Simon Jordan believes that David Moyes is paid enough money to make Everton succeed despite a poor summer transfer window.

The Toffees had a controversial window, which let the majority of fans down on deadline day.

The Blues failed in their attempts to sign Monaco's Folarin Balogun for £40million, after a late medical issue caused a deal to fall through.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles was also brought to the club for £4.2million, despite the Blues having a much greater budget to spend on a right-back.

Moyes has been left short in several positions, as multiple players also left the squad towards the end of the window.

However, Jordan believes that Everton fans and Moyes should get on with it, pointing towards the club's financial situation as a reason for all of this.

Angus Kinnear and Co. had £20m to spend on a right-back, and are a Maitland-Niles injury away from having no natural back-up to fill the position.

The same can be said on the other side of defence, with Vitalii Mykolenko the only left-back at Hill Dickinson.

That's not to mention the striker debacle, with extreme pressure now on Thierno Barry's shoulders after a failed move for Balogun, and the departure of Beto.

While speaking on talkSPORT on Monday, Jordan explained why he believes fans should lay off the Friedkin Group, and encouraged Moyes to roll his sleeves up.

Jordan said: "If you look at the last three accounts, they've lost £160m to £170m. Not all of that will offset against PSR, but they might still be on the edge of it.

"People forget, so they shout from the rooftops, 'oh, we want this, we want that'. Balogun's no great shake, is he? That [transfer] would have still been complained about.

"Even if the owner wanted to spend their money, they can't. Moyes has got to manage what he's got. Make it work, or don't work there."

Jordan also alluded to the damage Farhad Moshiri left behind and other financial reasons, but he's completely missing the point.

What most Evertonians have been left furious about is the fact that the club have had so much time to fix some of their main priorities, but either failed or, in some cases, signed stop-gaps to paper over the cracks.

The lucky thing for Everton is that Moyes has been hard done by by clubs before in transfer windows, for a variety of reasons.

He's been here before, and if patience were normal in football, Everton would be fine; but pressure is on.

If the Toffees go on a losing run, then the manager will take the flak, even though fingers should really be pointed at those who sit high up in the stands.

Kinnear and Co. made promises to Everton fans that were not kept, and Moyes cannot control that.

This is the reality the Everton boss faces. Despite a good start to the season, the mood in L3 can change quickly.
