Tariq Lamptey could leave Brighton at the end of the season with Everton making their interest known already, according to Caught Offside.

The news outlet reports [12 November] that the defender, whose current contract expires in 2025, has no intention of extending his stay and is unhappy under Fabian Hurzeler.

Brighton could green light an exit earlier in January, with Premier League rivals West Ham also interested in the Ghana international.

Everton need Tariq Lamptey transfer

Sean Dyche has had to rely heavily on Ashley Young to provide cover at right-back, but with the former Manchester United star now 39, the Toffees need to find a replacement for him.

Seamus Coleman has been a loyal servant at the club for several years now, but the Irishman isn't a reliable asset for the Blues now due to his persistent fitness issues.

Nathan Patterson has impressed at times, but the 23-year-old is yet to play for Everton this season after picking up an injury earlier this year and it remains to be seen whether he can get back to his best.

Lamptey has caught the eye of several neutrals with his displays at Brighton over the years, with the Seagulls doing well on and off the pitch.

But under Hurzeler, the Ghana international has found game time hard to come by, featuring in just one Premier League match.

While getting the 24-year-old on a free transfer would be very feasible for the Toffees, his injury record over the years hasn't been the most encouraging, and the Goodison faithful would rather not have another such player in their squad.
