Everton are set to overhaul their attack in the summer transfer window and interest in Ernest Nuamah could be revisited.
The Goodison Park outfit failed to complete a deal in the winter window despite desperately needing attacking reinforcements.
Reports had claimed that the Blues were set to complete a £16million deal for the Ghanian winger but a move did not materialise.
However, a new development from France could lead to a fresh attempt to bring the 21-year-old to Merseyside.
Everton can revisit Nuamah interest after Lyon financial reveal
Everton had agreed terms with Nuamah in the winter window, according to sources from France but the young attacker did not move to Goodison Park.
However, the Blues could revive a potential deal after French outlet L'Equipe revealed on 26 March that Lyon still needs to sell players to avoid relegation from Ligue 1 due to outstanding debts believed to be in the region of £400m.
The report claims that Nuamah could be sold in order to ease the threat of sanctions from the DNCG, the organisation that oversees French football finances.
David Moyes needs attacking reinforcements
While David Moyes has taken his side on a nine-match unbeaten run, five of those results have been draws, and the Blues need more firepower if the Scotsman is to take them to the top half and potentially European qualification.
Beto has emerged a genuine option under Moyes but the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Dwight McNeil have been hampered by injury, and Jesper Lindstrom is yet to find the back of the net.

Nuamah has notched three goals and assists in 21 matches for the French outfit but his electric pace would give the Toffees a totally different dynamic down the flanks and his potential is very high.
The fact that Lyon are still struggling with their finances will provide encouragement that the former Nordsjaelland star can be picked up in a cut-price deal.
The Blues may find the chance to sign Nuamah too good to turn down, if the fee is right, and that is a possibility given the desperate position that Les Gones face to avoid punishment.
