TFG in advanced talks over Evan Ferguson after Everton transfer speculation
The Friedkin Group could be about to seal the signing of Evan Ferguson.
The striker appears set to leave Brighton again this summer, after a disastrous loan spell with West Ham United at the back end of last season.
Everton had emerged as a potential suitor for Ferguson, and were understood to have been tracking the Irishman.
David Moyes likely needs to add another striker following the departure of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, and the 20-year-old had been identified as a potential candidate to join the attacking ranks at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
TFG in advanced talks to take Ferguson to Roma
Everton were among a group of clubs to be offered the chance to sign Ferguson, but a move to Merseyside has seemed unlikely for several weeks now.
Multiple Italian clubs have shown an interest in the frontman, with the likes of Roma and Atalanta having both been keen to take him away from the Premier League.
He now appears to be edging ever closer to joining Roma, with the Italian giants now in advanced talks over a loan move for the out-of-favour star, according to Sky Sports' Transfer Centre (19 July, 9:46pm).
The Serie A side are also owned by The Friedkin Group, and the Americans appear to have finally got their man, even if Ferguson won't be wearing the Toffees' colours next term.
Ferguson would have been too much of a gamble for Everton
Thierno Barry's arrival at Everton will likely mean that Moyes already has his first-choice striker for next season, but taking Ferguson from Brighton would have been a big gamble, even as a backup option.
The youngster showed a huge amount of promise when he first burst onto the scene back in the 2022/23 campaign, but his progress has since stalled completely.
He had been the subject of interest from several of the Premier League's biggest clubs during his early years on the South Coast, but he struggled badly in 2024/25.

Ferguson spent the second half of the campaign at Graham Potter's West Ham, but failed to notch a single goal contribution from his eight appearances in what was a troubled stint in East London.
He had played just 387 minutes of football by the end of the season, across his time with both the Hammers and his parent club.
With that in mind, it would have been a brave call for the Toffees to sign him.
It is unclear at this stage whether Ferguson will be able to rediscover the form that had previously outlined him as such an impressive talent, and for that reason, Everton must be glad they passed up on him.
