Thierno Barry's value surges as striker surprisingly overtakes teammate as Everton MVP
Thierno Barry has been enjoying the freedom of having no competition up top at Everton.
The Frenchman has started every game so far this season for the Blues, scoring six goals in nine fixtures.
The 24-year-old is now only two goals away from equalling his full total from 2025-26.
Barry has also been a frustrating figure in L3, though, as he has missed a plethora of opportunities to make his goal tally soar.
However, while he may be leading the Premier League for big chances missed this season, he is increasing his totals elsewhere.
That is amid a new reveal about the Everton ace's value on the market.
Thierno Barry reaches new value peak at Everton
Everton's strong start to the season has seen their valuations at Hill Dickinson Stadium reshuffle.
CIES Football Observatory have released their new update.
The English midfielder has seen his value drop, though, with teammate Barry rising and ultimately taking over.
The 24-year-old striker is estimated to be worth at a minimum of £41m, with a maximum price of £47.7m.
Barry was purchased by Everton for £27m last summer, so it appears that, should they seek a reshape in the forward department, they would be able to make a profit.
However, if Barry can get over his finishing hump and start putting away more of the chances he is getting, the Blues may already have a 15-plus goal Premier League forward.
January's window should also be interesting, as with the French forward the sole natural option, it would make sense for David Moyes to dip into the market to address that lack of depth.
Why Barry may not stay top for long
Barry's rise to the top of the rankings is a positive and shows how the forward is developing.
However, Jarrad Branthwaite is likely Everton's true most valuable player.
The English defender is likely not at the top of the charts due to his injury issues over the last year.
But if he continues to put those concerns to bed, then his value should begin to soar just as Barry's has.
Everton reportedly value Branthwaite at £80m, and right now it seems hard to see them having the same stance on Barry.
