View: Josh King offers fast track for James creativity at Everton
Everton completed the signing of Norweigan forward Josh King from Bournemouth on transfer deadline day.
He signed for a 'nominal fee' with the Toffees holding an option to extend the contract beyond the end of the season if they wish to.
It was the only signing Everton made this window. Cenk Tosun exiting for Besiktas meant Ancelotti needed to bring in a replacement.
King has struggled for starts this campaign in the Championship and made no secret of his wish to leave the Cherries in the summer.
He's featured fourteen times this season, but only had five starts, scoring three and assisting once.
After a quiet first half to the season, he finally has his return to the top flight. But what can King add to Carlo Ancelotti's squad?
Good goals record
King is a proven goalscorer at Premier League level. He's made 161 appearances and scored 48 times in the process, averaging a goal every 3.35 games.
His most prolific campaign came in2016/17. King scored 16 times for Bournemouth as they finished ninth in the league. He was responsible for 29% of their goals scored that year.
The Toffees have struggled in front of goal this season, and have the second-lowest goal difference in the top half of the table.
King could be just the man to assist Dominic Calvert-Lewin on the goals front.
Driving force
King was ranked 16th in the league for dribbles attempted per 90 in the league for 2019/20, with 4.77 [Sky Sports]. This is down to his ability on the ball, but also his pace.
Last season, his top speed of 36.67km/h was only marginally slower than Adama Traore of Wolves, with 37.78km/h.
This can be a real weapon for Everton, with the likes of James Rodriguez and his fantastic passing ability from counter-attacking situations.
King also has some impressive defensive stats. He ranked 15th in the league for possession won in the attacking third, 9.4 per 90, and also won 6.8 duels per 90.
He's a workhorse, and happy to be back in the top-flight. After some lacklustre performances as of late, it could be just the signing Ancelotti needs to push on for Europe.
In other Everton news, club legend Campbell is a lot happier with this defender recently.
