What David Moyes has previously said on Jarrad Branthwaite sale as Man United lurk again
Manchester United once again have Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite on their transfer radar.
The Red Devils have had two previous bids knocked back for the England centre-back.
Those bids, the second of which was in the region of £50million, arrived in the summer of 2024.
Branthwaite's injury issues in the following season meant his stock fell somewhat.
However, the 24-year-old has now put those problems behind him and is starring regularly for Everton once again.
The bad news for the Toffees is that his form is leading to fresh talk of a potential move away.
What's been reported on Man United move for Jarrad Branthwaite?
Branthwaite's injury problems are the only thing that has held him back so far, but that is hopefully now a thing of the past.
A little over two years on from having their bids rejected for the defender, the Daily Mail reported on Tuesday that Man United are once again considering a move for Branthwaite.
The report states that United "could try again in the summer" for the former Carlisle United player.
United are set to get rid of Lisandro Martinez after his recent outburst, with multiple new defenders wanted - Branthwaite potentially being one of them.
David Moyes has made Everton's Branthwaite sale stance clear
David Moyes has been here before when it comes to speculation over Branthwaite's future.
Speaking in February 2025, not long after returning as Everton manager, Moyes was asked about United's interest in Branthwaite from a few months prior.
"Jarrad has done really well," Moyes told reporters. "There are moments when he can do better, there are times he still plays like a young centre-back but has an awful lot going for him.
"He's already been involved in the England squad before I came and has got a good mentor around him in Tarky (James Tarkowski).
"So, Jarrad is a top player and if people want to buy Jarrad, I've said many times - bring a big bag of money."
If anything, Everton's position has only strengthened since these comments as Branthwaite signed a new deal in July 2025.
That keeps him tied down at Hill Dickinson Stadium until 2030, so Everton are under absolutely no pressure to sell.
Money speaks, of course, and if United offer a serious sum - over £70m for starters - Everton will rightly consider it.
But unless "a bang of money" is put on the table, United can forget it.
