What Everton now know about Richarlison's Tottenham future after latest update
Everton may still have Richarlison in their sights ahead of the January transfer window.
The striker has been frozen out of Tottenham Hotspur by Roberto De Zerbi after failing to secure a move away from the club in the summer.
The 29-year-old reportedly turned down a return to the Toffees due to financial reasons, while he also snubbed his escape route to Brazil by rejecting Vasco da Gama.
David Moyes will search the striker market once more this winter after Folarin Balogun's proposed move to the Blues fell through, which has left Thierno Barry as the only senior number nine at the club.
Angus Kinnear and Co. have come under fire after leaving Moyes with only one striker after the summer window, despite the position being in need of a clear upgrade.
While Everton made an attempt to re-sign Richarlison in the summer, they could still be monitoring what happens next for him at Tottenham.
Richarlison 'will leave' Tottenham in January after Everton attempt
Richarlison has approached FIFA over helping him terminate his Spurs deal with just cause, with his argument claiming that the club are preventing him from practising his profession after he was left off their 25-man squad.
This has led to some speculation of him leaving as a free agent, though this does not look likely.
Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade has been speaking for ESPN this week, revealing the next steps with Richarlison.
He said: "From January, the doors are wide open. Richarlison will leave Tottenham in January, or possibly English football.
"Tottenham have told his representatives that they’ll facilitate his departure. He won’t need to sign a pre-contract and then wait until June to leave for free.
"Tottenham have already informed his representatives that they won’t trigger the automatic extension option (In his contract). Tottenham could do that to create a bigger battle, but they won’t."
According to the Daily Mail, Everton had agreed a £35million deal in principle with Spurs for the former Brazil international.
With Richarlison set to leave in January, Everton would still have to pay money for his signature, though they may not need to cough up as much as initially expected.
Could this open up more space to financially satisfy the former Watford starlet?
Does Richarlison deserve another chance at Everton?
It's not about Richarlison giving Everton another chance at this point; it's the other way around.
The striker finished as Tottenham's top goalscorer last season, so he always looked like a solid target on paper this summer, especially when considering he could have been Beto's replacement.
But he had his chance to join and turned it down.
However, the key aspect that Evertonians already know is how emotional the forward can be.
In the days around the news linking Richarlison to Everton, he was vocal on social media, claiming that the Blues were the club of his heart, while slamming Tottenham's management of him.
It's likely that he was mentally shaken ahead of the deadline, and if he were to say yes to Everton in January, all should be forgiven.
