What Nahuel Molina's agents have done as Everton hunt new transfer

Everton are in the hunt for a new right-back, with Nahuel Molina one of the latest names linked with Merseyside.

Currently in Spain with Atletico Madrid, David Moyes and the Blues are casting their net far and wide.

It looked as though Everton were pushing ahead with a move to sign Celtic's Alistair Johnston, but that has gone quiet.

That has seen attention switch, and quickly.

Moyes knows the Scottish market well, but the Canadian started Celtic's league opener on Monday evening.

RB Leipzig's Ridle Baku was linked, but now Molina appears to be creeping his way up the Hill Dickinson shortlist.

Why Nahuel Molina may be most realistic Everton signing

The ball remains in Everton's court.

Playing in the best league in the world, a chance to enter the Premier League is too good for many to turn down.

For example, Johnston would likely jump at the chance to leave Glasgow for Merseyside to continue his career.

But, it's Molina who could be heading across from Spain.

AS has reported in its print edition that Molina is happy in Madrid, but will listen to offers to move on.

The Spanish newspaper states on 5 August that if a suitable offer arrives, all parties would likely say yes immediately.

In fact, his agents have already spoken with Atletico about a possible exit, with Everton mentioned as a potential destination.

Despite a preference to return to Italy, Everton can't be ruled out.

Will Everton nightmare finally end?

Everton fans are fed up about thinking and talking about the dreadful situation that is at right-back.

It's been years now and a suitable solution hasn't been found.

Seamus Coleman has obviously filled that position incredibly over the years, but as he approached the end of his career, a succession plan wasn't put in place.

Nathan Patterson was signed from Rangers, but that simply hasn't worked, with Jake O'Brien basically playing there for an entire season.

That isn't good enough either, with a specialist needed if you want to push for consistent European football.

Molina could be the answer.

Capable of scoring long-range thunderbolts, as well as having that infamous Argentine mentality, he could become a hero in blue.

There's plenty of steps before a move to Everton materialises, but it appears his team is ready for the next transfer now.
