Everton are days away from their next signing with Arsenal midfielder Christian Norgaard.

David Moyes is far from happy with his squad as the Premier League season quickly approaches.

Idrissa Gana Gueye was unable to reach fresh terms with the Toffees, leaving a real hole in their midfield.

Thankfully, Everton have reached a £7million agreement with Arsenal for Norgaard in recent days.

While not the most exciting of signings, the Danish international brings valuable experience to Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Arriving with a Premier League winners medal and a Champions League final behind him, Norgaard ticks a lot of boxes.

When could Everton announce Christian Norgaard?

Despite his medical being widely covered at the start of the week, it very quickly went quiet after that.

Now, the Daily Mail has reported in its print edition that Everton are looking to complete the deal for Norgaard within 48 hours.

Despite Arsenal giving permission for the medical to happen, not every part of the deal is officially complete, yet.

The newspaper states on 5 August that talks are ongoing surrounding the final details of the £7m move north.

Christian Norgaard destined for Everton as clues unravel

The closer you get to signing a player, sometimes, the less you see them.

Norgaard was left out of Arsenal's squad for their latest pre-season fixture against Real Betis, which takes place later on Wednesday.

Everything is set up for his move to Everton now, it's just about coming to that final agreement that everyone is happy with.

Given that the medical has likely happened and the player formalities around that, Arsenal just need to sign off on these final terms.

Norgaard will step into Everton's squad seemingly, taking over that experienced role of Gueye in midfield.

Even if he doesn't play every week, his knowledge will be critical both on and off the pitch at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Moyes loves that within his squads, and with Seamus Coleman no longer playing too, it's needed more than ever.

With James Garner undergoing surgery ahead of the new season too, it could be a completely new-look midfield.

Hayden Hackney has already signed, but it's looking more likely now that it will be Norgaard who he starts the season alongside.
