Everton are clearly in the market to improve in the final third, with the Premier League quickly approaching.

David Moyes took his squad to Germany on Saturday, as the Toffees lost 3-1 to Stuttgart in disappointing fashion.

It proved that Everton aren't good enough in critical areas, with Tyrique George and Tyler Dibling only showing flashes.

That's where Bournemouth's Marcus Tavernier comes into play.

With Jack Grealish set to re-sign towards the end of the window, there is still a general feeling that more is needed.

So, could Tavernier join before the Premier League gets underway?

Everton are yet to enter negotiations or even discussions with Bournemouth, so it's unknown whether they'd be open.

What has Andoni Iraola said about Tavernier?

There's a new rival in town this season, with Iraola taking over from Arne Slot at Anfield.

Liverpool got the better of Everton last season, but could new signings like Tavernier help change that?

Iraola takes a lot of credit for the rise of the winger during his time at Bournemouth, as he added goals and influence to his game out wide, and even centrally.

Capable of long-range strikes, as well as deadly set-pieces, Tavernier could add another dimension to this Everton attacker.

Speaking after a 3-1 win over Sheffield United back in 2023, Iraola hailed the consistent quality of Tavernier.

After he scored twice, the Spaniard said: "He was playing really well in the last games but he had some chances he didn’t finish, against Burnley and Newcastle.

"But it was a matter of time because he has the quality. It’s good he gets the reward because he is contributing in such different ways to the team. I’m really happy for him.”

After scoring twice at Bramall Lane, it shows that Iraola made Tavernier a winger who has consistency to always be in those dangerous areas.

Everton have lacked that consistently over the years, with the likes of George and Dibling still needing to learn.

With doubts over Iliman Ndiaye and Grealish, another signing like Tavernier could be exactly what Moyes and the Toffees need.
