Galatasaray were the last club the 33-year-old played for before his contract expired at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

Last season, the striker scored 16 goals in all competitions for Galatasaray, mostly coming off the bench, with Victor Osimhen the preferred option of the Super Lig club.

Icardi scored 14 times in the Super Lig last season with a goal conversion rate of 24 per cent and overperformed his xG of 10.53, as per Sofascore.

Barry is still learning the trade at the Merseyside outfit and has been wasteful in recent matches.
