Everton chief Kevin Thelwell is really keen on acquiring the services of Leeds United ace Wilfried Gnonto this summer, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet reported on 6 August that despite already having a bid rejected for the Italy international, the Toffees still hold an interest in the attacker.

The report also states that Gnonto is "open" to a move to Goodison Park but won't publicly force his way out of Elland Road, unlike last summer.

Everton signing Wilfried Gnonto makes sense

Of all the names that Everton have been linked with across the summer transfer window thus far, it's Gnonto's name that arguably makes the most sense.

The club have held interest in the attacker since Leeds found themselves relegated to the Championship at the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Italy international even handed in a transfer request in order to try and force his way out of the club.

Evidently nothing came to fruition but the fact that the club are now once again vying for his transfer, shows that their interest in him is still strong.

Sean Dyche has already bolstered his attacking ranks with the transfers of both Jesper Lindstrom and former Sheffield United ace, Iliman Ndiaye.

However, the addition of Gnonto could offer the club a strong central option and his versatility will obviously be of good use.

It has been reported that it would take a fee worth around £22million could be enough to seal a deal, which, for a player of the 20-year-old quality, seems like a no-brainer.
