Bernard drops heavy hint he is set to leave Everton with Instagram comment

Brazilian winger Bernard has dropped a heavy hint via his Instagram profile on Tuesday night that he is set to leave Everton this summer.

Blues left-back Lucas Digne posted a photo on his own personal Instagram profile on Tuesday afternoon, thanking people for the birthday messages he received.

Hours after sending the post, 28-year-old Bernard replied: “Happy birthday my bro. I always will wish you and your family the best in your life. I love you, and I’ll miss the one-two.”

The exit of Bernard this summer is to be expected given his struggle to make an impact in recent seasons, and he was particularly marginalised in the 2020/21 campaign.

He still scored against Manchester United at Goodison Park, but it was an underwhelming season for him as well as the club.

With the signing of Andros Townsend, and further wing reinforcements on the way, his days on Merseyside appeared numbered.

There have been various reports linking him with a transfer this summer, but nothing has been formally announced.

However, given his comment on Digne’s post, it seems obvious that he is exit-bound.

Digne is still away on his holidays after featuring for France at Euro 2020, and he could be given an extended break due to the injury he picked up in the tournament.

As such, it appears that Bernard is using social media to say his goodbyes.

It’s very likely that the Brazilian will be gone by the time the Frenchman returns, and with a heavy fixture list and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it could be a while before the two can see each other again.

It looks like it’s all but over for Bernard at Everton now, and all that’s left is for him to pick his next destination.
