Gary Neville makes Rafa Benitez prediction ahead of Everton v Burnley clash
Gary Neville has poured praise on Rafa Benitez in his preview of Everton versus Burnley on Monday night.
Speaking on Sky Sports ahead of the Goodison Park clash, in a video posted by Football Daily on Twitter, Neville has aired his thoughts on the Spaniard and what he can do with the Blues.
“Rafa Benitez, I didn’t quite understand bringing him to Everton but I never had any doubts that he would make Everton a far greater force in the Premier League this season,” Neville said.
“It’s been a frustrating Goodson Park for many years now in terms of underperforming, underachieving. They don’t expect to win the league but they do expect to be competing for the European places and Champions League places.
“I do think these players that he’s got here are better than they’ve shown in the last two years, I’ve always thought there’s a glimpse with Everton even going back to Marco Silva’s time but no manager has been able to get that system that way of playing and get the maximum out of them.
“He [Benitez] will, I’m absolutely sure of that.”

Promising signs
Benitez’s start to life at Everton has been pretty plain-sailing given the furore that greeted his arrival in the summer.
The ex-Liverpool boss has guided the Blues to an unbeaten three-game start in the Premier League while they successfully overcame a Huddersfield Town hurdle in the EFL Cup.
Everton face a tough test on Monday, however, as Burnley look to record their second win at Goodison Park in a matter of six months.
The Clarets were 2-1 winners in March as Carlo Ancelotti’s Blues reign started to disintegrate.
Benitez will be expecting his side to wreak revenge on Sean Dyche’s side this time around and arrest their recent poor form against the Lancashire outfit, with just one win recorded in their last four.
In other Everton news, the Blues have signed this attacker after a seven-figure deal was agreed.
