James McFadden raves about Everton youngster Anthony Gordon

Everton earned a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the Premier League clash on Saturday at Old Trafford.

Former Scotland and Everton forward, James McFadden, has showered praise on Anthony Gordon after his brilliant performance against the Red Devils.

In the absence of Richarlison and Alex Iwobi, Rafael Benitez started with the 20-year-old left-sided attacking midfielder, and he didn’t disappoint.

McFadden said on BBC Radio Five that Everton deserved to get something out of the match. The Toffees were well organised and they were not troubled too much in the second half.

While the likes of Andros Townsend (who scored the equaliser), Abdoulaye Doucoure and Demarai Gray emerged out as top performers from the game, McFadden singled out Gordon for praise.

“Anthony Gordon was sensational with the shift he put in,” he said on BBC Radio Live.

Bright future

It was a fantastic all-round performance from the youngster.

He made three tackles, two interceptions and one clearance, while created two chances while going forward.

Gordon previously managed three substitute appearances but it was his first Premier League start of the season.

The performance at Old Trafford from the academy graduate is an indicator that he would be given more chances by Benitez going forward and that he has an incredibly bright future ahead of him.

The best part of his performance was that he didn’t look out of place against the Red Devils.

This performance could become a big moment in his development, and all he needs to do is keep on performing with whatever opportunity he gets.
