Everton handed Lucas Digne selection boost for West Ham clash
Everton fans will be delighted that Lucas Digne’s hamstring injury sustained on international duty was not too serious.
The Frenchman missed both of the Nations League matches during this international break.
Ben Dinnery, a Premier League expert on injuries, stated a couple of days ago that the left-back could be out for three weeks on the Premier League Injury News show.
However, Benitez’s recent comments about his fitness will have come as welcome news for the Goodison Park faithful.
In his recent press conference, the Liverpool Echo’s Phil Kirkbride quoted Benitez as saying that Digne was fit again.
Digne is Everton’s best chance creators, especially after James Rodriguez left the club.
The side has no players who have the eye of picking out that key pass like the France international does.
There were reports of the Toffees signing an attacking midfielder in the summer, but nothing materialised from them.
Another major reason for celebration is that there’s no other recognised left-back in this team which would mean that someone like Ben Godfrey or Anthony Gordon would have to play out of position.
What’s also impressive about Digne is his mentality and never-say-die attitude, especially when it comes to recovering from injuries.
In January this year, Everton’s Director of Medical Danny Donachie hailed his “incredible” mindset that aided his return to full fitness after an ankle ligament surgery. [Club’s official website]
Our only hope is that he’s not being rushed back too soon as it can only aggravate his injury in the future.
