Kevin Campbell predicts transfer war for Everton target Harry Souttar
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has predicted that Everton may be involved in a transfer war for Stoke City defender Harry Souttar.
The Toffees are reportedly watching the colossal defender, with Duncan Ferguson spotted at the Bet365 Stadium.
Campbell has seen Souttar closely at Stoke when watching his son, Tyrese, and believe that many clubs will be interested.
Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Good player. Real good player.
“Australian international, big, I’ve watched him quite a bit because of my son down there, I know the kid really well – I think he’s destined, there’s quite a few teams watching him.
“Harry Souttar has made a difference at the back for Stoke, I’ll tell you that much, really good player.”
Well, this is a brilliant recommendation by Campbell for one of the brightest defensive talents in the country right now.
It has been suggested that it would take up to £20million to bring the Australian to Goodison Park – similar to the money spent for Ben Godfrey.
That has been a brilliant piece of business in recent years, and Marcel Brands could be tempted to recreate that with a move for Souttar.
With doubts still surrounding the future of Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate, the defence could be getting some real reinforcements soon – with full-backs certainly needed too.
It is going to be a busy couple of windows for the Toffees, and the priority looks clear – Campbell is very much impressed.
In other Everton news, this Toffees star is in ‘jeopardy’ ahead of the Watford clash and is likely to be dropped
