Jim White moots Rangers switch for Everton coach Duncan Ferguson, talkSPORT pundit reacts
It may be the right time for Everton assistant Duncan Ferguson to make the step up to management after a move to Rangers was mooted by Jim White.
That’s the view of Dion Dublin, who feels that Ferguson’s spent enough time in the coaching game to be worthy of a shot at management.
Steven Gerrard quit Rangers to join Aston Villa on Thursday, leading to talkSPORT host White suggesting that fans would love to see Ferguson return to Ibrox as their manager.

“One of the names being mentioned here [is] Duncan Ferguson, a lot of Rangers fans would love him back,” said White on talkSPORT on Thursday morning [10:50am].
“What do you think? Is Duncan ready?”
Dublin replied to say: “Never mind if Duncan’s ready or Rangers are ready – are the players ready for Duncan?”
White clearly found Dublin’s reply hilarious and after laughing, he said: “It would be something else, wouldn’t it?”
Dublin continued: “[Ferguson] deserves his chance, he’s been in the system for a long time now. He’s got a lot of respect from players.
“Maybe there is a little [chance] for Duncan to be a number one. He had a couple of games at Everton and did okay.
“I wouldn’t argue with him, put it that way.”

Ferguson must stay
Everton won’t be able to do too much if Rangers come knocking for Ferguson because, let’s face it, we know that he wants a job in management.
Before Rafa Benitez was hired as the Toffees’ manager in the summer, it was reported by the Daily Mail that Ferguson wanted the job.
He’s had some experience of managing us before and did quite well and the fans would have been way happier had the board gone for him and not Liverpool legend Benitez.
Ferguson is a Scot, he’s from just outside of Glasgow, he played for Rangers and he’s eager to take that step into management.
In all honesty, he’d have our blessing if he went and we’d pray he does a fantastic job at wherever he ends up.
But it would be a massive blow for Benitez and the club as a whole with tensions already high and fans already on the back of the leadership.
