Richarlison could seek Everton exit following frustrating start to the season

Everton forward Richarlison could soon seek a move away from Goodison Park, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Brazilian has endured a difficult campaign so far, scoring just two goals in eight Premier League appearances.

Rafa Benitez’s focus on a more defensive style of play has meant that Richarlison has not been able to flourish and his attacking output has been limited.

Describing the forward as a “frustrated figure”, the Liverpool Echo suggest: “His discontent will surely grow should things continue as they’ve started this year.

“He’ll have two years left on his current deal come the summer, this represents the window in which new deals are either agreed, or sales are made.

“Everton might struggle to avoid the latter should things continue as they are.”

Exit on the cards?

It has been a challenging start to the season for not just Richarlison but all Everton players and the pressure is increasing on Rafa Benitez following a six-match winless run.

Nonetheless, in an interview last week, the Brazilian said that the Toffees boss had been “great” and that he believed he could be important for his career.

The longer the struggles of the team and the forward continue though, the harder that will be to believe.

Richarlison will surely feel he is capable of playing in European competition and it looks unlikely he will be able to do that at Everton next season.

If he does seek a Merseyside exit, Richarlison is unlikely to be short of offers. He has averaged a goal every 2.9 games since joining Everton in 2018 and is capable of playing anywhere across the frontline.

At 24 years old, he is yet to reach his peak and is also an established international, with 10 goals in 32 appearances for Brazil.
