Kevin Campbell reacts as Lucas Digne set for 'Inevitable' Everton exit

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that it was always “Inevitable” that Lucas Digne was going to leave Everton this week.

The ex-Toffees talisman has sent his well-wishes to the Frenchman, who he has been impressed with during his time at Goodison Park.

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has reported that Aston Villa are in advanced talks for a deal said to be worth between £20-25million.

“That’s inevitable at the moment,” he exclusively told Goodison News.

“The Digne situation – it’s not a healthy one for him. He’s a top player, French international and he’s not playing football.

“He’s got good value so this is sometimes how these things shake out. I would wish him well because he’s been a really good player for Everton.”

Inevitable.

As soon as Rafa Benitez was said to have fallen out with the French international, this was a foregone conclusion.

Vitaliy Mykolenko has since arrived from Dynamo Kyiv, and it is good to see the club being proactive and bringing in a replacement first, rather than reacting.

With an exit set for this week, the cash injection will hopefully help the club settle its expenditure in light of the Financial Fair Play rules.

Campbell may wish Digne luck ahead of his next adventure, but it may be hard to imagine the fans doing the same against Aston Villa should that be his next move.
