Everton's Anthony Gordon receives plenty of praise from former Premier League midfielder

Fabrice Muamba believes Everton attacker Anthony Gordon won’t be at Goodison Park for long if he continues his current form.

Muamba was full of praise for the young Everton winger after his display in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in the Merseyside Derby.

Talking on his YouTube channel, Muamba said.”This young man here, Anthony Gordon, at 21 years old and to be involved in a Merseyside derby and play the way he played.

“He deserves a lot of credit.”

Muamba also believes that Gordon won’t be at Everton for long, regardless of the outcome of their terrible campaign, “Gordon for me, he was Everton’s best player.

“No matter what happens, he won’t be there for very long if he continues to play like that.”

Toffee’s only positive?

Gordon has four goals in what has been a breakthrough season for the 21-year-old.

The winger is currently contracted to the Toffee’s until 2025, so if they did go down, it will still take a significant sum to prize their homegrown asset away.

However, given Everton’s recent transfer activity, you wouldn’t put it past the Goodison hierarchy to cash in on one of their most valuable young players.

Gordon has already had recent experience in the Championship, whilst on-loan at Preston North End last season.

Given the impact he has had on this poor Everton team this season, a player of his calibre should not be playing Championship football.

What is certain, is that if Gordon was to leave the club if the Toffee’s plummeted into the Championship, it would not go down with the Goodison faithful.
