Everton want to bring in midfield starlet Chris Rigg from Sunderland
Everton are reportedly readying a move for Sunderland starlet Chris Rigg as they prepare their transfer strategy for the summer window.
According to a fresh update from iNews (29 April), the Toffees are keen on the “highly-rated” midfielder who has already broken into the Black Cats under 18 side and scored twice in the Premier League U18 North this season.
They face a tussle for his services with Newcastle, with the Magpies Under-23 manager Elliot Dickman having previously worked at their arch-rivals and well aware of Riggs’s potential.
Beacon of Hope
Evertonians have had to look pretty much anywhere away from the football field this season to try and cling to some positivity in what has been a disastrous campaign on Merseyside.
Therefore a link to a player many are tipping as a star of the future is a welcome distraction from the nailbiting fight against relegation.

It’s of course stupidly early days in the young man’s career but it’s always exciting to hear your club linked with a potential wonderkid and Rigg is no different.
At 14 he is still astonishingly young but the fact he is already involved at a level where many will be years his senior is a testament to how highly he is viewed by the hierarchy in the northeast.
Coaches and scouts alike clearly seem to rate the youngster and it would be quite a coup to secure his services given the glowing references said about him thus far.
If the inconceivable does happen and the Everton go down they might even be able to offer Rigg a quicker route to first-team football than he would first anticipate signing for the Toffees.
That’s looking at it from a glass half full perspective, and whilst the dreamers within us love to pathway a road to stardom for young players, all focus at the moment clearly has to be on retaining the club’s Premier League status.
In other Everton news, this rarely seen midfielder has been pictured in training at Finch Farm.
