Everton-linked Kim Min-Jae has £19.5million release clause

Fenerbahce defender Kim Min-Jae has been linked with a move to Everton recently and now the Toffees know his release clause too.

According to Turkish media outlet Fanatik, the 25-year-old can be bought without intervention from his current side for just £19.5million this summer.

Everton aren’t the only side keeping a very close eye on his situation with Fenerbahce as Fanatik report that both Tottenham Hotspur and Napoli are also in the hunt for his signature.

Despite his release clause being less than £20million, negotiations are expected to be undertaken by all of those in the race to sign him with a much lower price likely to be accepted by the Turkish outfit.

Important developments in the South Korean international’s future are set to be finalised and revealed at the end of this season and Everton will be among those on high alert when the time comes.

Uphill battle

If it was just the Toffees in the fight from the Premier League, then maybe they might have an outside chance of signing him but with Spurs and Italian giants Napoli in the race, Frank Lampard is already on the back foot.

If all offers are the same monetary value, then why would Kim opt to play for a side that has narrowly avoided relegation, if we even manage that, over a team that could potentially be in the Champions League?

In a way, you have to admire the ambition of the club for putting the 25-year-old on their list of potential options but we have to realise that we don’t have the pull to compete with teams like this.

It can be a hard pill to swallow for some supporters but deep down, even Lampard and Farhad Moshiri know it to be true and no amount of money is going to change that.

In other Everton news, Sean Dyche has moved to clarify his comments about the Toffees in his first interview since being sacked by Burnley.
