Idrissa Gueye not on Merseyside for Everton medical, trained with PSG on Monday - journalist
Idrissa Gueye trained with Paris Saint-Germain on Monday afternoon and is not on Merseyside for an Everton medical, according to Loic Tanzi.
It was reported on Monday afternoon that Gueye was already in Liverpool to undergo a medical with the Toffees after the club agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for his return.
But despite those reports, L’Equipe journalist Tanzi shared on his personal Twitter account that the player was at training with the French champions at 16:00 local time and was not in Liverpool after all.
“Idrissa Gueye was at training at Camp des Loges at 16:00. He’s not in Liverpool,” he tweeted.
Gueye is a priority target for the Everton midfield and the hope is that the club can get him in ahead of the season opener against Chelsea this weekend.

Whether Gueye is on Merseyside tonight or not, the deal is clearly heading in the right direction at this point and will be done soon enough.
A follow up tweet from Tanzi showed that PSG have Tuesday off from training, so it’s very possible that he travels to the UK then to put the finishing touches on the deal.
It will be a welcome boost to a side that is desperate for reinforcements, especially in midfield, and with him knowing the club so well already it should be easy enough for him to settle back in to the flow of things.
He’s not the player he once was, and that happens at 32, but he’s still got more than enough in the tank to be an important player of the course of the season and he adds depth and quality to the side.
So whether he’s in the city or not right now isn’t too important at this moment, so long as the deal gets done and wrapped up ahead of the Chelsea game at the weekend.
