Everton defender Yerry Mina expected to miss several weeks through injury
Everton have reportedly been handed a double injury blow in defence with Yerry Mina now set to miss several weeks of action.
According to Win Sports journalist Pipe Sierra, he suffered an ankle ligament injury which will see him ruled out for quite a while.
The club are expected to conduct more tests on the Colombian in the coming weeks to get a better idea of the extent of his absence.
Via Twitter, Sierra wrote, “Yerry Mina suffered an injury to the ligaments in his ankle. You should wait for the swelling to subside in the next few days to perform more tests and determine the severity
“The preliminary medical report indicates that there will be several weeks off.”
Frustrating
Godfrey has officially been ruled out for a few months and by the looks of it, Mina will be missing a similar amount of games.
Just as Everton announced the signing of Conor Coady, they have now been faced with this massive injury blow.
Thankfully, they signed the English defender in time for him to fight for his spot in the World Cup squad and it’s now on him, James Tarkowski and Michael Keane to solidify the back line.
Frank Lampard would be an extremely frustrated man as for once, it looked like he was getting all his players available and ready to choose from.
It’s back to the drawing board for him now and we believe that he will still continue to play with a back three.
Whether that means a full-back coming into central defence, remains to be seen and we’re eagerly awaiting any word from the club over Mina’s injury.
