Idrissa Gueye sorting severance pay with PSG, expected to complete Everton transfer before clash v Aston Villa

Everton expect to complete the signing of Idrissa Gueye before their weekend clash against Aston Villa, with the hold up in the deal shared by Mark Douglas.

The Toffees had been expected to complete the transfer before their season opener with Chelsea but a deal has yet to be finalised despite reports of a medical already having taken place.

But according to journalist Douglas for iNews, the Senegal international is currently negotiating a severance package to leave Paris Saint-Germain and that is the reason the deal is stalling.

The report says that a deal has already been agreed between Gueye and Everton as well as Everton and PSG, and it’s expected that it will be official “in good time” for the club’s next Premier League game with Aston Villa on Saturday.

Phew

It’s with good reason that a few Everton fans were beginning to get a little bit touchy about the potential return of Gueye because it was dragging on for so long.

Without official confirmation anything can happen, and there were even reports today [Tuesday August 9] that the player has having second thoughts.

However this explanation seems far more logical with Everton unlikely to be matching his wages in Paris because of his age and their financial situation, and so he wants to be compensated adequately.

Obviously PSG won’t want to pay him that but Everton fans should remain patient and confident that a deal is done, since that is what the vast majority of the noises are from people who know.

Having him available against Villa will be a huge boost and fingers crossed the team can pick up the first of many three points over the course of the season.
