Everton finalising transfer of Idrissa Gueye from Paris Saint-Germain

Everton are finalising a transfer deal for Paris Saint-Germain defensive midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye after weeks of negotiations, according to Abdella Boulma.

The Toffees have had a personal agreement with Gueye for weeks, but wanted the French champions to rescind his contract to get a deal done while they wanted Everton to pay a transfer fee.

It seems that an agreement has now been struck though, with the Football France journalist tweeting that a deal was being finalised between the two parties.

“Operation being finalised for Idrissa Gueye to Everton,” he said on his personal Twitter account.

It had previously been reported that Gueye had already taken a medical ahead of the move,

Finally

Its been a long waiting game and Everton have remained patient and calm throughout, but it finally looks as though Frank Lampard is going to get his man.

The club have strengthened the midfield during this transfer window thus far with the addition of Amadou Onana, while the defence got added to as well with Conor Coady, James Tarkowski and Ruben Vinagre.

But to make the base even stronger for Lampard, Gueye will come in and add quality and experience to a position that needs depth and alongside both Onana, Alex Iwobi and Abdoulaye Doucoure, Everton now have a fantastic set of midfielders to choose from.

Add Tom Davies, Allan and Andre Gomes to the mix too for now and arguably the club need to sell one or two, but the important thing is that Lampard is being allowed to strengthen the team first.

After a tough start to the season so far with two defeats and two draws, Everton must start claiming points and Gueye could help provide the platform to do just that.

He could potentially make his second debut against Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Saturday afternoon.
