Women's expert: Everton must try and keep Emily Ramsey on Merseyside

We’re delighted to welcome Peter MacFarlane, a member of the Everton Women Official Supporters Club, as our exclusive Everton Women expert.

Everton Women’s expert Peter MacFarlane would love the club to sign Emily Ramsey permanently from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old started in goal for the Toffees in their latest Women’s Super League fixture against Manchester City.

Despite losing the game, MacFarlane was full of praise for Ramsey who was “incredible” for Everton and feels the competition with Courtney Brosnan is bringing the best out of both of them.

“A disappointing result, but a far from disappointing display from our team. Manchester City have such an array of top talent but we matched them for large parts of the game,” MacFarlane exclusively told Goodison News.

“Emily Ramsey was incredible in goal for the Toffees. We have spoken about fellow loanee Jess Park so much this season, with good reason, but Ramsey has shown such a high level of performance when called upon that we simply have to do everything we can to sign her permanently from Manchester United, although this won’t be straight forward as I’m sure United will be reluctant to let her go.

“Courtney Brosnan has also been so consistent for us in goal, and the competition seems to be bringing out the best in both players, but given the choice, I would do absolutely everything to try to keep Ramsey at the club.

Brian Sorenson will now be desperate for the Toffees to land Ramsey on a permanent agreement to give the Toffees strength in depth in the goalkeeping department.

Everton currently sit eighth in the WSL standings and MacFarlane is largely pleased with the early part of the campaign for the Toffees.
