Rio Ferdinand has shared behind the scenes footage of the BT Sport studio after James Tarkowski’s goal for Everton in the win over Arsenal.

The central defender scored his first goal for the club to help the Toffees earn all three points for the first time since October in Sean Dyche’s first game as manager on Saturday (4 February) at Goodison Park.

And posting on his official Instagram (4 February), Ferdinand showed the reaction from the studio in the immediate aftermath of the goal, including his own taunting of former defender Martin Keown.

“Wow.. Arsenal what’s happened?” he shouted, while cackling with laughter.

“Wow. Martin what’s happened to your team? Martin what’s happened to your team? Martin what’s happened to your team?”

“Wow. Goodison Park.. this place has swallowed up many a man back in the day.”

Excellent

Obviously this is just the start of the Dyche era and nothing can be taken for granted, but what a performance that was at Goodison Park. Simply incredible.

Not since last season have the players put in a performance like that, with quality in both directions and a real desire to compete and perform.

The fans were absolutely unbelievable once again and really pushed the players on to that next level, while they also made Arsenal shrink in comparison to what we’ve seen them do this season.

As Ferdinand said, Goodison is a ground that can swallow players up whole if they’re not of the required standard, and we saw the likes of Amadou Onana, Tarkowski and Idrissa Gueye really stand up to be counted.

It was a great start to this new chapter, and now we must keep that momentum going when we go to face Liverpool next week as we try to move away from the relegation zone.
