Permanent Jack Harrison transfer update emerges at Everton already

Joe Thomas has claimed that Jack Harrison's future at Everton will rest on how the club's season pans out, with a relegation scrap and a problematic financial situation both key factors.

Ongoing uncertainty regarding the takeover by 777 Partners at Goodison Park, as well as questions regarding the financial stability of the club, could mean a permanent transfer would be difficult to pull off.

The Liverpool Echo journalist claimed a return to the Premier League for Leeds would strengthen their financial position and could make it harder for Everton to make the loan move permanent.

Speaking to Leeds Live on 16 October, Thomas was asked whether a permanent move was on the cards when he shared: "A lot of water needs to pass under the bridge before this can be considered.

"Everton could end up in a relegation fight this season and the club’s finances are problematic with uncertainty about whether they will stabilise over the course of the season.

"It is already clear Harrison is a Dyche player though. The key factor may well be whether Leeds United get promoted this season or not.

"A return to the Premier League would strengthen the club’s financial position and that is unlikely to help Everton."

Plenty of determining factors

A permanent move to Harrison seems like it will be based on plenty of moving parts, with the 777 takeover perhaps chief among them with the ongoing financial situation still uncertain, leaving the club unsure of their investment as things stand.

Added to this, if Leeds manages to earn Championship promotion at the first time of asking, their valuation of Harrison will surely rocket as he would either become part of their squad or command a large fee for a homegrown Premier League player.

As Thomas says, a lot of water needs to pass under the bridge before this deal can be spoken about in any great depth, with plenty of twists and turns at both clubs likely to determine his future.

If Harrison continues to impress under Sean Dyche and prove to be an important player in his side, there is no doubt Everton will want to make the deal permanent. Whether they will be able to is a whole other matter.
