Everton Women: Brian Sorensen contract update emerges at Walton Hall Park
Brian Sorensen has signed a new contract to extend his spell as Everton Women’s manager until June 2026, the club has confirmed.
The Toffees reported via its official website [18 April] that Sorensen, alongside his assistant Stephen Neligan, have extended their stays at Walton Hall Park.
Sorensen joined the Merseyside club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, leading Everton to a top-six finish in the Women’s Super League, while the current season has been one of transition.
Speaking after the news was announced, Sorensen said: “I’m very happy – I really like it here. I like the club, I like the people in the club and I like the fans.
“There’s a plan in place, we have a good future and a good squad going forward. I think it’s important to show in the background there’s a plan.
“Results this season haven’t been the best at times – injuries to key players have been a big part of that – but we are performing extremely well and we have a good group. We want to continue working on that. The building blocks are there.”
Brian Sorensen set for lengthy stay with Everton Women
Sorensen’s appointment has been largely successful, overall, especially after the sixth-place finish in the league last season.
While the Toffees are just two places above Bristol City at the foot of the table, they still have the potential to finish the season on a high with remaining matches against Brighton, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and the Robins.
The Women’s season has majorly been affected by injuries, an aspect that was highlighted before their FA Cup fixture against Aston Villa in January when nine players were doubts for the game.
Despite this, Everton’s FA Cup journey was a shining light throughout the season and showcased the talent that is currently at Walton Hall Park, and at Sorensen’s disposal.
The Danish manager led the team to a 3-0 win over Villa, even despite the injuries, following that up with a convincing 7-1 thumping of Nottingham Forest.

This would set up an exciting quarter-final clash with Chelsea, who are looking to pip Manchester City to the Women’s Super League title, and would narrowly lose 1-0 to a Catarina Macario goal.
There are certainly some exciting signs for Everton Women, and tying Sorensen down to a new contract is just the beginning of that journey.
