Newcastle United are in the hunt to sign 777 Group sporting director Johannes Spors as the Miami-based group's bid to buy Everton hits yet more trouble, according to The Telegraph.

The newspaper reported via its website on 7 May that Newcastle are considering a bid to hire the 41-year-old as a replacement for Manchester United-bound Dan Ashworth.

Ex-RB Leipzig head of recruitment Spors currently works for 777 Partners, whose bid to buy Everton from Farhad Moshiri has hit bump after bump with The Telegraph reporting on 4 May that the US investment group is being sued for fraud.

Will 777 Partners complete their Everton takeover?

It seems highly unlikely right now, doesn't it?

How the Premier League can allow 777 Partners to be owners of a mainstay of their competition since it's creation, we'll never be able to work out because it's just one bad thing after another with them.

777 Partners own clubs in every corner of the world and it feels like pretty much every single one of them has a negative relation to the Americans with stories popping up almost on a daily basis.

Josh Wander has still not yet succeeded with the Everton takeover.

Spors won't be involved in any of this stuff. He's simply an employee of 777 and has seemingly done a good job based on the fact that Newcastle are going to get him.

If 777 complete their takeover at Goodison Park (and that's a big if), it would probably be a bit of a blow for Newcastle to have Spors and not Everton.

However, Kevin Thelwell has done a half-decent job considering the circumstances on Merseyside so many Evertonians would be happy for him to stay no matter what happens going forward.
