Everton could sign Bobby Decordova-Reid on a free transfer this summer in a move which could allow Sean Dyche to get the best out of James Garner.

The Toffees are set for a frustrating summer where their budget for making signings is going to be held back by financial restraints.

This could see Everton take advantage of players who are out of contract this summer and available on free contracts.

With that, Dyche has shown an interest in signing Decordova-Reid from Fulham who is yet to sign a new deal at Craven Cottage [TBR Football].

His versatility and ability to play off the wing could allow Garner to play a more familiar role in the centre on a more regular basis.

James Garner to benefit from Everton signing Bobby Reid

The Englishman has been a consistent player for the Toffees since finding a more regular role in the first team under Dyche.

Despite this, he has often been forced out to play on the right side of midfield as injuries took their toll on the squad.

Garner has taken this in his stride and hasn't let him affect his game although he would certainly prefer to play in the centre of the park.

Reid can play on either flank or as a striker which will add versatility and some much needed depth to Dyche's squad ahead of the season.

If Jack Harrison is to join permanently then there will be two options available on the right-hand side which should help keep Garner central.

This will allow him to continue his development which will only benefit Everton moving forward into the new campaign.

This free transfer could prove to be the start of a positive summer for the Toffees.
