Everton fans can "immediately" ignore the attempts of Dan Friedkin and Vatche Manoukian to take over the club this summer, according to Stefan Borson.

The football finance expert appeared on TalkSPORT alongside Jim White and Simon Jordan (11 June), saying that from the long list of bids to buy the Toffees, few actually have realistic prospects of succeeding.

Roma owner Dan Friedkin's offer and a £400million all-equity bid tabled by Vatche Manoukian were both dismissed straight away in Borson's assessment of the candidates.

He said: "Although they have a list of people, when you break it down there are not that many likely buyers.

"Immediately get rid of Dan Friedkin, because there’s not much point in him buying it. When he’s got Roma, you can’t have any success in Europe because of the ownership issues that would cause.

“(Manouakian’s bid) sounds good, except it’s a £400million when they’ve got over £600million in third party debt. What he’s proposing gives Moshiri zero, so the chances of him getting the club are close to zero.”

Borson verdict reduces list of Everton takeover candidates

Everton's takeover saga has finally moved out of first gear following nine months of snail's-pace talks with 777 Partners, which finally came to an end on May 31.

The Miami-based investment group failed to meet a list of criteria set out by the Premier League to satisfy its demands for taking over the club, meaning a host of new names have emerged in recent days [Give Me Sport].

Roma owner Dan Friedkin is reportedly keen on purchasing Everton from Farhad Moshiri.

An early reported front-runner, Crystal Palace co-owner John Textor, has confirmed to Goodison News himself that he is in fact not a front-runner to buy the Toffees, nor was he ever.

While the field of potential bidders will undoubtedly narrow before Farhad Moshiri makes his final decision for the takeover to proceed, Borson's predictions could still be turned upside down in a saga that is set to take plenty of twists and turns.
