Everton cult hero shares what pros are saying about Sean Dyche – ‘Unbelievable’

Everton cult hero Anders Limpar still believes Sean Dyche is the right man to lead the Toffees but admits that it hasn’t always clicked for him at Goodison Park.

The Swedish midfielder played crucial role in Paul Rideout’s 1995 FA Cup final-winning goal, running from inside his own half before setting up the goalscorer to beat Manchester United 2-1.

Limpar, who signed for the Merseyside club from Arsenal in 1994, has fully backed the current Everton manager to thrive next season, having kept the club away from relegation last term.

Speaking to Liverpool Echo on Thursday (8 August), Limpar said: “I think Sean Dyche is the right kind of manager for Everton right now. He reminds me of some of the bosses we used to have in the 1990s with hard-grafting players.

“I rate Dyche. He is a good manager who knows his business but for some reasons it hasn’t clicked with the players in the games, but he is definitely the right man for Everton at the moment.

“I don’t think he gets the credit from outside but if you ask any of his fellow professionals, they will tell you he is doing an unbelievable job.

“First, they got deducted 10 points and they had the threat of relegation hanging over them when they had to win games so you can imagine the pressure he has got on his shoulders, he’s tremendous, I like him a lot.”

Is Sean Dyche the man to lead Everton to success?

With the amount of controversy and financial issues surrounding the club over the last couple of seasons, Dyche has done incredibly well to keep a steady hand and keep them in the Premier League.

The Toffees looked to be batting away the thought of Championship football for a lot of last season before an incredible run of games lifted them safety away from the relegation zone.

Although the players also need to be handed their flowers for scoring the goals and keeping the clean sheets, it is ultimately up to Dyche to lead them. He takes the glory, but he also takes the criticism.

Getting the backing from a true cult legend like Limpar will be music to the manager’s ears, and fans will be hoping for a much more positive season after the club’s recent acquisitions in the transfer market.

Jake O’Brien looks to already be a decent leader in defence, while Jesper Lindstrom and Iliman Ndiaye will be huge threats in the final third for the Toffees next season.
