Everton transfer budget reveal for remaining weeks of summer window

Everton have already spent a "decent proportion" of their transfer window budget, according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reported on 9 August that finances remain tight at Goodison Park, with the club having spent over £40million on four permanent signings and two loan deals during the transfer window.

With moves for Tim Iroegbunam, Iliman Ndiaye and Jake O'Brien having taken up most of that transfer budget, it's unclear how much the Toffees will have left to spend before the deadline on 30 August.

Sean Dyche's priority from now until the start of the season, however, is reportedly to train up the players currently at his disposal, and get them ready for the new Premier League campaign at Goodison Park.

Given the dire financial situation which the Toffees were mired in throughout last season, spending north of £40m on a combined six permanent and temporary signings may have taken some by surprise.

However, they have brought in over £70m in the other direction via three player sales, by far the biggest of which was Amadou Onana's move to Aston Villa for a reported £50m fee.

Lewis Dobbin and Ben Godfrey also departed prior to the official end of the campaign on 30 June – transfers which will have certainly helped with the Toffees' profit and sustainability situation.

Should further sales be required in order to fund further new transfers – which are arguably needed given the loss of Onana – it remains to be seen if the Belgian's fee can be used to contribute.

The thought of selling more players at Goodison Park this summer will be music to the ears of clubs like Manchester United, who have a long-standing interest in the Blues' prize asset [Sunday Mirror, 30 June], Jarrad Branthwaite.

However, given Dyche has made clear that Branthwaite will be going nowhere, the Toffees boss will stick with what he's got for now, building on the siege mentality which served his side so well last season.
