Everton are interested in Samuel Chukwueze as AC Milan consider selling the winger in January, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The newspaper reports via its print edition (16 October, page 3) that Milan are prepared to cut their losses on the Nigeria international, who has failed to live up to expectations since arriving from Villarreal for a deal worth £23.4million (€28million) last year.

The Rossoneri are, therefore, considering selling him for £11.7million (€14million) in January amid interest from Everton and Saudi Arabia.

However, Chukwueze's £63,000-a-week (€4million-a-year) wages could prove to be a stumbling block, leaving the door open for a loan move.

Samuel Chukwueze could be a great signing for Everton

It is worth noting that Everton's plans for the winter transfer window largely depend on Dan Friedkin's proposed takeover of the club (Alan Myers, 15 October).

However, should all things go to plan, Chukwueze could also become the Merseyside outfit's first signing under the new regime.

That would be a great way for Friedkin to announce his arrival at Goodison Park as the Toffees could do with a winger.

Sean Dyche has played Jack Harrison on the right flank on most occasions this season, but the Englishman has been disappointing as he has not registered a goal or assist in nine games across all competitions.

Chukwueze has had a similar start to the season, failing to contribute to a goal in a total of eight appearances.

However, the former Villarreal winger has been restricted to just two starts unlike Harrison, who has clocked 489 minutes.

It is true that the transfer to Milan has not worked for Chukwueze and that is way a move to Merseyside might be exactly what he needs.

The winger was notably linked with the Toffees before joining the Serie A giants last year.
