Everton will have to find an extra £1.6million-per-year after an increase to National Insurance rates was announced.

The Government announced on Wednesday (30 October) that National Insurance rates for employers would be increasing from 13.8 per cent to 15 per cent from April 2025 (BBC).

For the Government, this is a move that will majorly increase their revenue but it will be a blow to businesses across England.

Everton forced to find another £1.6million-per-year

In the period between the 2022/23 season, the Toffees' wage bill was around £135.9million which was a slight decrease from the 2021/22 campaign when their total stood at £139.1million.

As the change isn't coming in until April, it will only affect the accounts for the 2024/25 season.

Of course, the figure will also be dependent on wage increases and decreases so at the moment, the £1.6million figure is more of an estimate.

While the increase in money might not have much to do with Farhad Moshiri due to The Friedkin Group's impending takeover of the club, it's certainly something that should be taken into consideration.

The sum of £1.6million might not seem like all that much money to a club of Everton's size but over an extended period, it could end up hurting the club.

Dan Friedkin will no doubt have a plan in place to get Everton into a stronger place financially but until the takeover has been completed, he won't have much of a say on how things are handled.
