Everton may have been handed a boost to sign Orel Mangala permanently after Lyon were handed a transfer ban due to financial issues.

The Toffees signed the Belgium international on loan at the end of the summer transfer window and he has gone on to make nine appearances so far this season.

Sean Dyche has often opted to utilise Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure at the base of midfield ahead of the 26-year-old.

This could prove to be a positive signing for Dyche given his experience in the Premier League and what he adds to the midfield at Goodison.

If the Belgian can be signed for a cheap fee in the summer, without seemingly taking advantage of a bad scenario for Lyon, the side would already be improved for the long term ahead of the new season.
