Everton versus Liverpool has been postponed due to Storm Darragh, according to Reach journalist David Ornstein.

Writing via his personal X account on Saturday morning (7 December), Ornstein reported that the Premier League fixture has been called off on safety grounds.

Storm Darragh is currently battering the whole of the UK with severe weather warnings in place across the whole of England and Wales, as well as central and southern areas of Scotland.

Everton fans to wait for final Liverpool clash at Goodison Park

It's not a shock to see the game being called off with high winds and heavy rain lashing across almost the whole of the UK.

It seems that the west of the country is being hit worse with large areas of Wales being dealt with a red weather warning by the Met Office.

According to the Liverpool Echo, there's an amber warning in place for Merseyside, so there's simply no way that safety officers can justify allowing tens of thousands of people to descend upon Goodison Park to watch a football match.

It's simply not worth it.

Sean Dyche and his players will no doubt see this as a blow because their 4-0 win over Wolves on Wednesday meant that they were going into the final Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park with a lot of momentum.

Liverpool might see it as a reprieve after they dropped points against Newcastle in the week.

Either way, safety is the most important thing and there's no way this game could have gone ahead.
