Friedkins make new Calvert-Lewin contract decision after Everton takeover

Everton could offer Dominic Calvert-Lewin another new contract after The Friedkin Group (TFG) takeover, according to TEAMtalk.

Dan Friedkin has completed the acquisition of the Toffees from Farhad Moshiri, and it is reported [19 December] that the American owners want to keep the striker and avoid losing him on a free transfer.

The 27-year-old's current deal expires at the end of the season, and the takeover puts the Blues in a better financial position to negotiate new terms.

With the Merseyside outfit reluctant to sell Calvert-Lewin in January, he could begin negotiations with other clubs outside England in the coming month, with AC Milan interested.

While the centre-forward hasn't posted impressive numbers, with two goals in the Premier League this season, he has been pivotal to Sean Dyche's plans.

The England international has had his fitness issues at the Toffees, but he has been available consistently in the current campaign.

Beto has been used as the backup number nine by Dyche, but the Guinean has been underwhelming during his stint at Goodison, and he could well be on his way out in the upcoming transfer window.

Armando Broja has recently returned from injury, and Everton now have another option up front in the Albanian.

Sitting just three points behind the relegation zone, The Toffees have a massive second half of the season coming.

The Blues will need the full strength of their squad to avoid going down to the Championship, and Calvert-Lewin will undoubtedly play an essential role in that.

It would be wise to tie the striker down to get some value back from a potential transfer in the future.
