Beto exit update at Everton shared by Alan Myers after being spotted abroad

Everton have not yet agreed any deal to allow Beto to leave Merseyside in January, according to Alan Myers.

Sky Sports journalist Myers took to X (6 January) to dispute reports to the contrary and claims Everton have yet to reach an agreement for the forward’s sale.

The 26-year-old was spotted at Manchester Airport on Sunday (5 January), sparking rumours of an impending exit from Goodison Park amid reports Serie A outfit Torino are closing in on a loan-to-buy agreement with the Blues [Giacomo Morandin].

Myers wrote: “Everton have not agreed any deal for Beto to leave on loan or permanently with any club, contrary to reports.”

Everton have not agreed to sell Beto

Despite Myers playing down the reports Beto will soon leave Everton, the forward will likely not remain at Goodison Park after the window slams shut on 3 February.

The Guinea-Bissau international has struggled to adapt to the Premier League since taking the Serie A by storm with Udinese, earning his move to the Toffees.

He has managed only one goal this term, taking his tally to four league goals in 32 appearances – a massively underwhelming return for a forward once worth £27million.

Although Dominic Calvert-Lewin also appears to be heading towards the exit door at Goodison Park, the 27-year-old is likely to remain until the end of the season and sign a pre-contract agreement with one of the many Serie A sides lining up for his signature.

Therefore, Beto is likelier to be allowed to take his leave this month, and the two Everton forwards could be set to line up against each other in the Italian top flight next season.

There is no smoke without fire, and while no agreement has been reached yet, Beto’s sale would allow Sean Dyche to reinvest the recouped funds into his side ahead of a push to escape the threat of relegation in the second half of the season.

Beto has not found his feet on Merseyside after a year-and-a-half, so it is best for all parties involved to part ways.
