Everton could spend up to £40m on new signings from a PSR perspective, according to the I.

The news outlet reported on 20 January that finance experts predict that the Toffees have £5million-£10million in PSR headroom to play with until the transfer window ends because a player signed for £40m on a four-and-a-half year contract would go into the books as £4.5million due to amortisation.

As things stand, David Moyes is reviewing a potential list of transfer targets for the rest of the window.

Everton are not expected to spend £40million in January

Despite having some financial leeway, the Toffees are not expected to utilise the full amount during the January transfer window.

The club's strategy is likely to lean towards fiscal prudence given their recent financial constraints and the need to balance the books.

Instead of splashing out on multiple high-cost transfers, the priority for Everton this window is expected to be acquiring a couple of loan signings, which would provide immediate squad depth without a significant financial outlay.

Alternatively, they might opt for one loan deal complemented by a single permanent signing in the region of £10million.

This approach not only respects the PSR limitations but also aligns with the club's current strategy of cautious investment, focusing on players who can add value without straining the club's finances further.

It will also depend on how much they can generate from player sales and how much demand is actually there for the ones they're willing to part ways with.
