Ernest Nuamah twist emerges at Everton as Alan Myers shares new transfer update
Ernest Nuamah is likely to stay at Lyon during the winter transfer window despite interest from Everton, according to Alan Myers.
The journalist reported via Sky Sports’ transfer blog (21 January, 10:06 am) that the Toffees’ deal to sign the 21-year-old seems to be off despite previously reaching an agreement with Lyon over a £16.9million transfer [Fabrice Hawkins].
This is because Luiz Henrique, who was lined up to replace Nuamah at Lyon, is swapping Botafogo for Zenit St Petersburg instead.
David Moyes suffers Ernest Nuamah blow at Everton
David Moyes made a U-turn on his own stance about not wanting to take the reins at a relegation-battling club just to return to Everton.
However, the Scottish tactician will be very much aware that he needs to bolster his ranks to avoid the drop with the Merseyside-based club.
The right wing position is particularly an area of concern, with Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison’s performances leaving much to be desired.
That is perhaps why the Toffees decided to rekindle their interest in Nuamah after seeing a transfer for the Ghana international fall through in the summer.
They would have been hopeful of avoiding similar twists this time when they agreed a £16.9m fee with Lyon.

However, that has turned out to be the case, with Nuamah now likely to stay at Lyon at least until the end of the season.
It is worth noting that Lyon, as well as Botafogo, are owned by John Textor, who was in the mix to buy Everton from Farhad Moshiri before The Friedkin Group gazumped him.
