Everton make last-gasp Evan Ferguson offer, medical now done
Everton made an offer to sign Evan Ferguson before Brighton agreed to send him on loan to West Ham United, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reported via Verdict on print (3 February, page 10) that Ferguson is moving to the London Stadium despite receiving proposals from the Toffees, as well as Chelsea.
He has already completed a medical ahead of finalising a six-month loan transfer to the Irons, who are covering the entirety of his wages and paying the Seagulls a fee plus performance bonuses.
Everton miss out on Evan Ferguson at Goodison Park
David Moyes is in need of firepower up front following the injuries to Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Armando Broja.
The situation has also put Beto’s proposed transfer to Italy in jeopardy, with Everton not in a position to sanction an exit without strengthening the position first.
There is no doubt that Ferguson would have been a solid addition to Moyes’ squad, although he has only accrued 237 minutes of Premier League action this season.
However, that ship has sailed with West Ham all set to announce his signing before the transfer window closes on Monday (3 February) evening.
Therefore, the Merseyside-based club must turn their attention elsewhere if they want to sign a striker for the second half of the season.
Meanwhile, the Goodison Park outfit are on course to announce the signing of Carlos Alcaraz from Flamengo.

The former Southampton midfielder is set to join Everton on loan, although the move will become permanent once certain objectives are met.
It would not be a surprise if Moyes looked to add at least another player to his ranks before the window slams shut.
