Jack Grealish's signing was a huge statement of intent from Everton and The Friedkin Group.

Optimism levels are remarkably high on Merseyside ahead of the new Premier League campaign, and a lot of that stems from Grealish's arrival.

Grealish joined Everton on a season-long loan after falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola over the last few campaigns.

The Englishman is set to play a crucial role in Everton's progression, having already done so earlier in his career at the Etihad.

Jack Grealish broke one Frank Lampard record in the Champions League

The 29-year-old is known for his creative assets and ability to change a game, and that is only showcased by a record he now holds from his Man City days.

As per the Metro, Grealish created a remarkable 35 chances in the Citizens Champions League campaign in 2023, making a new record.

  • Grealish has made 190 Premier League appearances
  • He has 16 goal contributions from just 26 league outings for Aston Villa in 2020/21
  • He started only seven league games for Manchester City last season

Frank Lampard was previously the record holder for an English player with the most chances created in a single Champions League season, with 34 back in the 2007/2008 campaign.

For context, that is nearly double what Iliman Nidaye achieved in the Premier League for the Toffees last season.

If used correctly, Grealish could be an absolute game-changer for Everton and potentially the driving force behind what has the potential to be a very special season on Merseyside.

What Moyes said about Grealish in 2021

Moyes is already well aware of the threat posed by Grealish, having praised him back in 2021 while the midfielder was shining at Aston Villa.

"He is a really good player and probably the best player in the Premier League at this time," Moyes said.

“He has done such a big job at that club and is probably the best player in the league right now.”

Of course, Everton travel to face Leeds on Monday night, and Grealish will relish the occasion, and the inevitable jeers from the home support will do nothing but bring out the best of him.

The two have faced off against each other nine times throughout Grealish's career, and the Everton star has come out on top on four occasions, with hopes of making it five come the end of matchweek one.
