Charly Alcaraz’s Everton days must be numbered as Ilan Kebbal deal eyed

Charly Alcaraz’s time at Everton may be coming to an end after their interest in Ilan Kebbal emerged.

The Argentine midfielder turned his loan into a permanent stay last summer, but it has been miserable for all parties.

The former Southampton man has made just 18 appearances in all competitions this season, with one goal and one assist.

The Blues want to bring in Kebbal from Ligue 1 side Paris FC, and he would cost under £11million, according to a report from L’Equipe on 16 April.

If Everton bring the Algerian star to Merseyside, it will surely spell danger for Alcaraz and his future in L3.

Why Kebbal interest may end Alcaraz’s time at Everton

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is Alcaraz’s main competition at Everton at the moment, and he cannot get into the team over the former Chelsea ace.

If Kebbal, another attacking midfielder, is added into the mix, then surely there will be no need for the 23-year-old anymore.

David Moyes may well decide that the best move for all parties is to allow the Argentinian to depart, his days may well be numbered.

How do Kebbal and Alcaraz compare?

Kebbal compares favourably to Alcaraz, as he has scored eight goals and notched four assists in 24 Ligue matches this season.

The current Toffees ace has failed to score and notched one assist in 16 league matches, which is a dismal record by comparison.

The Algerian also comes out on top in underlying metrics, as he takes more shots per game (1.9) to Alcaraz’s 1.1 and more key passes per game (2.0) than the Blues star’s 0.6.

Kebbal also contributes defensively, with 1.3 tackles per game and 4.7 ball recoveries, compared to Alcaraz’s figures of 0.8 and 2.6 in those respective metrics.

The four-cap international looks like a huge upgrade on the outcast, and it would make perfect sense to bring him in and try to sell the underperforming flop, especially given the fee that he is available for.

Alcaraz has just not hit the heights expected of him, and it is time for the club and the player to move on, as there are clearly better, more experienced options on the market for the Merseysiders.
